IT and Graphics Support For Postgrads

The School has 2 IT technicians available to help you. John Scott and Graeme Young provide support in the areas listed below:

Key Support Areas

  • All school IT hardware - computers, networking, wireless, printers etc.
  • Student desktop support
  • All software installations
  • Computers and software associated with specialist equipment - identifying whether a problem needs a service technician.
  • First point of contact for specialist software - they will direct you to the appropriate person for help.

Note: personal laptops are the responsibility of their owner to maintain and support but must be checked by John or Graeme before they are connected to the university network.

GraphicsGraphics Support

The main contact for graphics support in the School is Matt Walters, he can assist you in the following areas:

Key Support Areas

  • Training and troubleshooting for graphics software - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Dreamweaver
  • Scientific Photography - Photos for thesis, posters and presentations
  • Science Communication - assist and train students in editing, design and print for posters and presentations
  • Web - maintain and develop content on biology websites.
